Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) released a VCU Alert regarding flooding “from the seventh floor down” in the VCU Medical Center West Hospital Wednesday morning.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, school officials said the water was shut off at the VCU Medical Center West Hospital and that stairs were flooded from the seventh floor down. Elevators were shut down due to the flooding and employees in the building were relocated.

In an update following the initial alert, VCU said the flooding was due to a broken pipe on the seventh floor of the building.

The building is expected to reopen in the morning on Friday, June 14.
