Open Streets ICT – Douglas returns Sunday, September 20, for a free, family-friendly afternoon along two miles of Douglas Avenue in Wichita. From 12:00 to 16:00, the route from Grove Street to Waco Street will be closed to motorized vehicles, giving participants space to walk, bike, run, skate and enjoy the city in a whole new way.
The event features local businesses, food vendors, interactive activities, live music, entertainment and performances throughout the route. Three activity hubs at Kennedy Plaza, Naftzger Park and East High School will offer additional family-friendly fun, fitness activities and opportunities to connect with the community.
Open Streets ICT is designed to promote active lifestyles, health and community connection by transforming Wichita streets into vibrant public spaces. Free trolley service is also available along First and Second Streets to help attendees travel between the Delano and East High hubs.
