(SportsRadio 610) -- The Astros are traveling to Kansas City for their first live action against an opponent since Major League Baseball shut down spring training in March.

Houston faces the Royals in two exhibition games on July 20-21 at Kauffman Stadium, the team announced Monday.

The Monday, July 20 game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. On Tuesday, July 21, the Astros and Royals start at 1:05 p.m. CT.

Since starting summer camp July 3, the Astros have played a four-inning intrasquad simulated game, which was last Thursday. They planned on another Sunday, but a staff member possibly being exposed to COVID-19 derailed those plans.

All of the major league pitchers and coaches were held out of Sunday's workout, and the simulated game was moved to Monday.

The Astros then pushed Monday's workout back to later in the day as a precaution in case there are delays in the COVID-19 testing process.

Despite having to cancel, push back or hold key personnel out of workouts, the Astros get a tune-up for the start of the regular season.

They host the Seattle Mariners on Friday, July 24, the first of a six-game homestand (four-game series against Seattle; two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers).
