
America has voted and our favorite vegetable is the potato. A new poll says the top preferred veggies across our nation include broccoli, mushroom, spinach and onions. The study also found Americans are increasingly going green with their eating habits. Most of us are eating more of our five a day now than we did five years ago. Some of it has to do with being better for the planet, while most of us want to go more green for our health.
The experts say there are a few ways to get more veggies in your diet. Try making veggie basil soup to experiment with veggie noodles. Blend your favorite vegetables into smoothies, veggies are rich in nutrients and antioxidants that boost your health and help you fight off disease. Find ways to replace carbs or meats out of certain meals - for example make a pasta free zucchini lasagna. Of course adding veggies into sauces for pasta, pizza, or other delicious dishes. Swap to veggie burgers or plant based meat alternatives.
