Metro Atlanta residents have several important developments to keep on their radar, from changes on Georgia roadways to World Cup festivities and a major hiring announcement.

Drivers across Georgia should be aware of a new state law requiring motorists who are being pulled over by law enforcement to move to the right shoulder when it is safe to do so. Officials say the change is intended to improve safety during traffic stops for both officers and drivers.

Motorists are also being reminded that law enforcement agencies will participate in Operation Southern Slow Down, a regional speed enforcement campaign beginning July 13. The initiative aims to reduce speeding-related crashes by increasing patrols and enforcement across Georgia and neighboring Southern states.

Meanwhile, soccer fans have another opportunity to celebrate the FIFA World Cup with free activities in downtown Atlanta. Day two of the Argentine Fan Festival at Underground Atlanta features South American cuisine, live music and public watch parties ahead of Argentina's match against Egypt. Fans attending the game are also invited to participate in the "Argentina Fan Walk," a group procession from the festival to Mercedes-Benz Stadium before kickoff.

The festival is one of several events taking place throughout the metro area as Atlanta continues to serve as a host city for FIFA World Cup matches.

In business news, Dunwoody-based staffing company Insight Global announced plans to hire approximately 1,700 employees as demand continues to grow in the artificial intelligence and technology sectors. The expansion is expected to create new employment opportunities in a variety of professional fields and reflects the region's continued growth as a technology and business hub.
