Some know her for gracing our screens on Real Housewives of Atlanta, others know her for Silver and Bronze medal wins at the Olympics for track and field, but 'Star' is not the right title to use when describing this wonder woman, it's actually 'hero'. The former Olympian, 38, is now taking on the huge challenge of fighting maternal mortality in the Black Community.
Black Women have the highest maternal mortality rates in the United States. Richards-Ross shares that Black Women are 4 to 5 times more likely to die during childbirth than any other woman. Sanya hopes to educate and advocate with her second annual Mommi's Brunch with an incredible panel filled with experts and activists in this community. Some of the panel include Dr. Jackie Walters, Rashan Ali, and Charles Johnson, Founder of 4 Kira 4 Moms.
The Mommi Brunch starts at 11:00 a.m. and is filled with educational conversations, a silent auction to raise funds for families affected by Maternal Mortality, brunch and socializing. Attendees can enjoy a brand new feature at the brunch called the Mommi Market, where Sanya has picked out more than 10 "woman owned and mommy owned" businesses to allow Moms of all stages in life a chance to network and create community. You can still get tickets to this event here.
