Janelle Monáe's new album The Age of Pleasure drops today and it's one that fans don't want to miss. Their new single off the album Lipstick Lover features work from Stevie Wonder and Mad Cobra. Monáe shares they are embracing this new era of their life in the best way they can and wants to share that with the world.

Janelle Monáe has been teasing The Age of Pleasure with the single Float which was released earlier this year and Lipstick Lover followed shortly after. Float was inspired by several different mediums including Muhammed Ali talking shit in Zaire, 1974, Jane’s evolution, Mary Poppins’ umbrella, Aladdin’s magic carpet, Sara Elise’s ropes, excerpts from Paramahmsa Nithyananda’s talks on levitation, Raul’s toast on Dec 1, and Bruce Lee’s mighty philosophy on being “shapeless, formless.” The song has already made a big impact becoming the official anthem ABC/ESPN’s NBA Saturday Primetime campaign and was featured in an animated piece marking LeBron James surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the # 1 spot on the NBA’s all-time regular-season scoring list.

Janelle Monáe also received praise for their single Lipstick Lover from Rolling Stone Magazine, saying the song is, “an ode to a moment of queer intimacy dotted with sugary harmonies and an earworm hook.” Monáe opened up to Jenn about what their LGBTQ+ journey looked like and how they wants this project to be a safe place for anyone and everyone. The morning show host shared how excited she is to share The Age of Pleasure with her two daughters and notes how the project only helps to create a more inclusive environment.

Janelle Monáe shared one of the biggest inspirations of this project was creating a safe space 'free of police' and 'free of gun violence' because people deserve somewhere safe to enjoy who they are as individuals and as a community.
