Comedian Leanne Morgan is heading to the Fox Theatre September 23rd and 24th for her Just Getting Started Tour. The Southern Inspired Comedian, 57, opens up about motherhood, marriage her Netflix Special and more with Jenn Hobby. Morgan shares with Jenn some of the emotional ups and downs for her preteened daughters to come in the next few years, but encourages her to stay strong.
The Big Panty Tour Comedian credits much of her growing success to her Netflix Special, I'm Every Woman, because she's reaching audiences she never thought were possible including, men and young women. Leanne says she finds great joy in seeing multigenerational fans come to her show like a grandma, mom and daughter enjoying her work because they can all relate to her.
Leanne didn't start her comedy career in the traditional way hitting the comedy clubs or local bar for a stand up night to test her material, she actually got her start with her at-home jewelry sales parties; where instead of talking about the jewels she was talking about motherhood and life. Once the company caught wind of her unique approach to selling and entertaining they started bringing her to the sales rallies and that's when someone told her to do stand up comedy. Leanne shares with Jenn she actually didn't initially envision taking the route of being a stand up comic, but actually the route of be coming a sitcom star.
Leanne and Jenn talk marriage as Leanne recently celebrated a major marriage milestone and thanks her husband for always believing in her.
