Braves should get to within striking distance of Mets with soft schedule ahead
The Atlanta Braves may have fallen to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, but still have the opportunity to win the series Thursday with Spencer Schwellenbach on the mound. Schwellenbach has had a couple of rough starts as of late, but should be able to use a below average Reds offense to get back right.
In fact, the Braves can use the next four series versus the average likes of the Pirates, Nationals, and Red Sox to get back right as a team.
As of now, the Braves are still six games back of the Mets for first place in the National League East, but only two games back of the scuffling Philadelphia Phillies for second place. If the Braves can simply win the next four series versus the aforementioned teams, they should be able to pull within only a couple of games of first place when they welcome the San Diego Padres in to Truist Park in two weeks.
Randy McMichael and Abe Gordon talk more about the Braves young pitching staff learning on the job, and how the next couple of weeks can help shape their season.
