Late game heroics lifted Clemson to a road win in Pittsburgh on Saturday. The 20th ranked Tigers scored on a long TD run from QB Cade Klubnik with 1:16 left to play to get a hard fought win, 24-20.
Clemson struck 1st scoring a Klubnik TD pass to Midlands native Antonio Williams to go up 7-0. Pitt answered with a TD drive of their own to make it 7-7. Williams then got his 2nd TD catch of the game in the 2nd quarter.
Clemson then put together a drive late in the 1st half that was capped by a 51 yard Field Goal from Nolan Hauser to make it 17-7 at the half.
Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter and Clemson took a 10 point lead into the 4th. Pitt then scored on a Field Goal and a TD pass in the 4th to tie it at 17 with 7 minutes left.
Pitt took the lead on a 47 yard Field Goal to go up 20-17 with 1:36 left to play. That's when Klubnik would find the end zone on a 50 yard scramble. Pitt got the ball back and drove into Clemson territory. Tiger DB Khalil Barnes then got an interception at the 2 yard to seal the win.
Clemson is now 8-2 overall they have finished ACC play at 7-1. Clemson will need either two losses from SMU over a loss by Miami over the next two weeks to make the ACC Title Game.
