Two Clemson players and two others with ties to the listening area were selected in the 1st round of the NFL draft Thursday night. The 1st of that group taken was Clemson Offensive Tackle Blake Miller, who went 17th overall to Detroit. At 19, The Carolina Panthers took Offensive Tackle Monroe Freeling. He starred at Oceanside Collegiate in the Low Country before becoming an All-SEC performer at Georgia.
North Georgia native Keylan Rutledge went 26th to Houston. The Franklin County High product was an All-American this past season at Guard for Georgia Tech. Also, Clemson Defensive Lineman Peter Woods went 28th overall to Kansas City.
No South Carolina Gamecock players were taken in the 1st round. Their top pro prospects Lanorris Sellers, Dylan Stewart and Nyck Harbor all have announced their plans to play together in Columbia this coming season.
