Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney accused Ole Miss of recruiting tampering in trying lure linebacker Luke Ferrelli, six months ago. Swinney says, he provided evidence yet hasn't heard back from the NCAA.
Swinney suggested the only way college football can withstand enduring “rampant” tampering is with help from Congress. Swinney suggested fines, suspensions and even firings should all be considered to discourage tampering while speaking at the ACC Kickoff.
ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips on Wednesday urged coaches and administrators to go public with information if they see potential tampering.
Meanwhile the Protect College Sports Act that lawmakers and athletic leaders have described as the best hope to stabilize college sports cleared a key vote in the Senate in June and now awaits a vote in the House of Representatives.
