A game winning field goal as time expired helped Clemson avoid a late collapse and beat SMU for the ACC Title. Clemson got a 56 yarder from Nolan Hauser at the buzzer to edge SMU 34-31 in the ACC Title Game.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after scoring on TD passes from Cade Klubnik in the 1st 5 minutes. SMU answered with a TD run from QB Kevin Jennings to make it 14-7. Clemson then got a 43 yard TD pass from Cade Klubnik to make it 21-7 after the 1st.
The Tigers got a 2nd quarter field goal from 44 yards out from Hauser to lead 24-7 at the half. SMU Got a TD pass in the 3rd to make it 24-14. Clemson scored on another Klubnik TD pass to make it 31-14 after the 3rd.
SMU then scored 17 unanswered in the 4th quarter and tied the game with 16 seconds left on a Jennings TD Pass. Clemson's Adam Randall then had a 41 yard kickoff return. Klubnik found Antonio Williams for a 17 yard pick up. The Tigers called timeout and set up Nolan Hauser to be the hero.
Clemson has won 10 games and they will move on the College Football Playoffs with the win. The Tigers have now won 8 ACC Titles in since 2015.Clemson will travel to take on 5th ranked Texas Saturday December 21st in the 1st round of the College Football Playoffs.
