DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones joined 105.3 The Fan Tuesday morning to discuss the latest with the organization heading into their Week 16 game vs the Philadelphia Eagles.

With a record of 5-9, the Cowboys enter the game with a very small chance of making the playoffs thanks to their fortune of playing in the woeful NFC East.

To say the season has been a disappointment would be an understatement. Jones was asked where this season ranks among the Cowboys' most disappointing seasons under his reign.

"Well, you used the word disappointing. And that, certainly, is that. But (it was) unique. That has to do with the things that everybody worked through. And that was no training camp, (etc.). Our coach didn't meet eye-to-eye (with) our team until three weeks till month into training camp. So, that's unique. You need to establish things earlier, especially in the transition we were in," Jones said.

"But, I think this certainly ranks as one of the most surprising (seasons). I thought we had, personnel-wise, one of the best teams we've ever had. You might say, 'that's part of the problem, we've got a general manager here that doesn't understand that it wasn't one of the best teams we've ever had.' But, I think that availability is such a key thing, relative to having success. Certainly, other teams, we played one out here the other in (the San Francisco 49ers) that arguably had less players available than we've had. And they were a hair's breadth away from winning the Super Bowl last year. And see what's happened this year with (a) lack of having some of their key personnel. So, that's a big deal. It's not an excuse in the NFL, because you have tremendously talented and well-paid professional players that are there when the guy ahead of them goes down. And they're supposed to be there and effective and ready to go. But we're a living example of it (where it) can take it's toll (when you've lost several players)."
