Former New York Jets head coach Adam Gase may be directing the Seahawks’ offense next season.
That’s according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. He says the program has spoken with Gase about the team’s offensive coordinator position. Chiefs’ quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka is also in the running.
Seattle decided to make a change from recently fired OC Brian Schottenheimer, last week. Head coach Pete Carroll said Monday he wants to revitalize the team’s run game next season. It’s a plan that could derail the Seahawks’ high flying offense. They finished in the top 10 in scoring all three seasons of Schottenheimer’s tenure.
The Jets fired Gase after posting a 2-14 season which included 13 straight losses. New York has moved onto greener pastures, hiring 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to replace him.
There might also be an issue between the coach and safety Jamal Adams. The Jets traded the All-Pro safety to the Seahawks earlier this season, which caused Adams to speak ill of Gase. They’re on opposite sides of the ball, but it would be awkward, none the less.
