Turnovers plague Paladins in loss at Wofford

Turnovers loomed large in Furman's loss to Wofford in Spartanburg, Saturday. The Paladins had three turnovers all were interceptions thrown by Quarterback Trey Hedden. One was a "Pick 6" that was one of two of those interceptions returned for more than 40 yards in the 31-13 loss to their Upstate rival.

Wofford struck 1st and never trailed. They got on the board on a nearly 30 yard pass from JT Fayard to Colby Alexander. That capped a 7 play, 85 yard scoring drive to make it 7-0. Furman responded with Hedden's lone TD pass of the game. That capped a 9 play, 75 yard drive capped by Hedden's 10 yard scoring strike to Devin Hester Jr.

Furman went for two but their attempt failed at that kept Wofford up 7-6. The Terriers tore off 14 unanswered points to lead 21-6. Furman scored in the 3rd quarter after Wofford's lone turnover of the game set the Paladins up on a short field. RB Gavin Hall punched it in to make it 21-13 after three.

Early in the 4th, Wofford grabbed the momentum with a bog play on defense. Calhoun Falls native Javario Tinch picked off a Hedden pass and returned it 66 yards for a TD to make it 28-13. The Terriers later added a Field Goal to make the final 31-13.

With the loss, Furman moves to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in SoCon play. The Paladins are back in action Saturday hosting Citadel for a 2PM kick. You can hear all the action on The Fan Upstate.
