In the post-game press conference, Vic Schaefer spent several minutes highlighting South Carolina and what it will take to win on Sunday.
Q: What can you do from a coaching standpoint in these next 15-17 hours to prepare for South Carolina?
A: This is my sixth final in a row and five of them have been against South Carolina. Daylight savings time is tonight. You lose an hour tonight. Of course. Ten years ago I would say we need to have shoot-around tomorrow but in forty years I have changed. My former players would say I have gotten soft and that's okay. I am more concerned about my team getting rest tonight and getting their bodies right. I don't know if we will take our shoot-around or not tomorrow. My kids know I am big on shoot-arounds but I don't know. You have to evaluate your team because I have a lot of kids playing a lot of minutes. I need to be real careful with them. I will figure it out tonight but I have left it up to them to be honest with you. We will see how it goes. Again, if you don't have your body, frame, and well-being tomorrow, you have no chance against South Carolina. I give God the glory for being 31-2 but I am pretty sure we can execute everything we have tomorrow. I feel good about everything and I don't feel like we need a shoot-around.
Texas will face South Carolina tomorrow at 3pm.
