The fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game saw one of the wildest plays and post-play melees in the NFL, which saw 60 yards of penalties offset after an 18-yard loss.
On third-and-10 from the Chiefs 15, Josh Allen was sacked for an 18-yard loss, ruled in the grasp of Chiefs DE Tanoh Kpassagnon. Fellow defensive end Alex Okafor continued the play and tackled Allen, who appeared to flip the ball into the face of the defender – and when Okafor got up to jaw at Allen, Bills guard Jon Feliciano came over to give Okafor a hard shove.
That set off a bit of a melee that saw Allen and Okafor flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, Feliciano flagged for a personal foul, and Bills tackle Dion Dawkins also given a personal foul. All penalties offset and the result was a fourth-and-28, which saw the Bills kick a 51-yard field goal to make it 38-24.
Buffalo had the ball after recovering an onside kick following an Isaiah McKenzie touchdown, but a second try after the field goal resulted in KC’s Marcus Kemp recovering to give the Chiefs the ball, and they were able to run out the clock.
The game had been chippy for quite a while – and it continued on the Chiefs’ ensuing drive, as Bills defensive end Quinton Jefferson was flagged for a 15-yard personal foul for shoving center Austin Reiter after a Darrel Williams run—but Feliciano’s frustrations may have been a culmination of that chippiness, which also saw the referees miss KC’s Chris Jones throw a punch at him earlier in the game:
