Bears interview Colts' Matt Eberflus for head coach, Ed Dodds for general manager

(670 The Score) The Bears on Monday turned their searches for a new head coach and general manager to Indianapolis, meeting with a pair of candidates from the Colts.

The Bears conducted interviews with Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus for their head coach position and assistant general manager Ed Dodds for their general manager role.

Eberflus, 51, has been the Colts' defensive coordinator since 2018. He oversaw a unit that ranked ninth in scoring defense and 16th in total defense in 2021.

Dodds, 41, has spent the last five years with the Colts alongside general manager Chris Ballard, including four years as assistant general manager. He had previously worked for the Seahawks from 2007-'16 in their scouting department.

The Bears have now interviewed six candidates for head coach -- Eberflus, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, former Colts and Lions coach Jim Caldwell, Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, former Dolphins coach Brian Flores and former Eagles coach Doug Pederson.

The Bears have also interviewed seven candidates for general manager -- Dodds, Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen, Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort, Browns vice president of player personnel Glenn Cook, Browns vice president of football operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly and Saints assistant general manager Jeff Ireland.

Bears chairman George McCaskey said last week that he was uncertain whether the team would hire a general manager or head coach first.
