The Washington Commanders have made their first free agent signing of the Adam Peters Era: veteran tight end Zach Ertz.

Ertz played the last two and a half seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, beginning under Washington's current offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles where he made three Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl he was dealt to Arizona in the middle of the 2021 season.

Ertz's production has trailed off in the desert as he gets into his 30s. In his last two seasons (comprised of 17 total games) he has just 74 catches for 593 yards (8.0 yards per catch) and five touchdowns. One downside of his game is his lack of tackle-breaking ability as he only has 176 yards after catch over the past two seasons.

Craig Hoffman gives his take on the first Commanders signing and analyzes Ertz's potential impact on the team, including his leadership qualities and familiarity with Kingsbury's offensive system. Plus, how could Ertz's experience and skills benefit Washington's offense?
