Giants reporter Patricia Traina discusses Commanders' Week 7 matchup with Kevin Sheehan

The Washington Commanders have been sacked a lot. Why? Well, the offensive line is not a strength of the team and Sam Howell, still getting used to playing NFL football, has been caught holding onto the ball for far too long. The numbers through six games of the season are shocking: 34 sacks (most in football) for a loss of 215 yards (also most in football). He's on pace to smash the single-season record for most sacks.

The New York Giants have also allowed a lot of sacks, 33 for a loss of 168 yards. Daniel Jones, the only quarterback to be sacked at a greater rate than Howell (15.6 percent vs. 13.7 percent) is unlikely to play Sunday after he sustained a neck injury in Week 5 and missed last Sunday's game. Tyrod Taylor, who has already been sacked four times himself, is likely to make his second start of the season.

But while the Commanders' sacks have largely been seen as a Sam Howell problem, the Giants' sack woes have mainly been due to an offensive line that is down three starters and likely three back-ups. They were forced to sign veteran Justin Pugh "straight off the couch" and had him in at left tackle last week in a loss to Buffalo.

Who wins? Who knows. But there will likely be a lot of sacks. To break down the matchup and get insights on the odds Jones plays and everything about Big Blue, Kevin Sheehan brought in Patricia Traina of GiantsCountry.
