One of the memories I have about my Grandma Mantel is ham steaks and homemade applesauce. Over the holiday we had ham and homemade applesauce and was immediately transported back to my grandma's kitchen. This applesauce was sweet and comforting and so good that I had to ask for the recipe. To my shock, this was done in a crockpot!!! How about easy, right? Hopefully, this takes you back to comforting place too.
Ingredients
8 apples peeled, cored and sliced thinly
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
Combine the apples and water in the crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours. Add the spices and brown sugar and cook for another half hour, stirring frequently.
