The Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW) is a college preparatory school with an emphasis on leadership and academic excellence and enrichment in a single sex environment. Their program demonstrates a strong commitment to math, science and technology – fields where women are underrepresented and where Maryland needs to cultivate a strong knowledge base and workforce – as well as to the arts and humanities which teach students to appreciate and engage critically the world that they will lead.

The BLSYW Way embodies leadership, girl power, college readiness, high expectations and a strong support network. Through academics and social emotional learning, BLSYW students are taught to develop a strong sense of self, sisterhood, compassion, and good decision-making.

They offer a rigorous middle and high school curriculum designed to meet and challenge each student’s academic performance level. With a team of dedicated Middle School teachers as well as a team of dedicated Upper School teachers, their staff knows each student intimately. One of the hallmarks of the BLSYW experience is to know each girl by name and by need and respond to her in ways that will prepare her academically and socially to be successful in college.

At BLSYW, they are committed to providing a well-rounded and engaging educational experience with high expectations and high support at the center of the experience. In order to participate in any extracurricular activity, including social events, students must have at least a 2.0 grade point average. Students who do not meet this threshold are provided with encouragement and support both in and out of class to keep them focused on our academic goals as a school community.
