(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Don’t let Spring Break travel leave you Spring broke.
It’s high season for travel breaks in colleges and schools, which can lead people to act fast to make plans for their trip, sometimes a little too fast.
Fraudsters use phony pop-up ads and websites to chase their targets with fake emails, texts, and phone calls.
Often, they offer amazing prices or last-minute deals to hot spots, to steal money and information. A common technique that they use is demanding you to take action immediately.
Research companies and properties before you send money.
Scammers often offer fake properties and travel arrangements so be suspicious of any unsolicited emails and texts. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
