CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – A Chicago man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he shot and seriously injured a woman and then fired at officers on the city’s South Side.

Chicago Police Department officials said Pierre Davis, 28, was arrested Friday night, less than 10 minutes after a 22-year-old woman was shot in the 7900 block of South Ingleside Avenue.

Police said responding officers encountered Davis as he attempted to flee the scene. Investigators say Davis fired a weapon in the direction of two officers, who then discharged their service weapons, striking him.

Davis was taken to a hospital in serious condition and remains in custody, police said. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for observation and later released.

Davis has been charged with multiple felonies, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated assault to a peace officer, domestic battery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Police said charges were approved by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office following an investigation by the department’s Investigative Response Team.

Davis is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Monday at the Cook County courthouse.
