I'd like to buy one of these for my Bride.
And that's not to say that this Audi Cab doesn't have the chops to be a guy's car, too.
No…it's just that she's a fun lady and this is a fun car.
It's hard to get behind the wheel of Audi's A5 convertible without a big smile. It's a light, tight delight to drive…and I can see that girl of mine…top down…sassy hair blowing around…singing with the radio… going to Jazzercise or out to lunch at the beach.
But while Audi's A5 Cabriolet is a playful car, it could easily serve as a daily driver for anyone…boy or girl.
Space in the rear seats is a bit cramped, but if your driver is under 6'…or if you're hauling kids, another two in the rear will fit just fine.
And once in, Audi's 2.0 turbo four and 7-speed dual clutch automatic will get you to 60 in 6 seconds, and deliver 23 MPG hwy and 34 on the road…on regular. Just more reasons to smile.
The Cabriolet's well-padded roof makes the interior rather quiet for a convertible…and that top can be quickly lowered or raised at the average stoplight…or even at speeds up to 31 MPH, if needed.
A5 Cabriolets will start in the low $50s. For that you'll get a well-equipped vehicle with leather, 18" alloys, heated power mirrors, collision assist…and when that top down makes things a bit too noisy for normal conversation, Audi brings voice control with seatbelt microphones. Nice touch.
We had the "Premium Plus" package, Nav, and a Design package, which brought the total to $57,800, and included heated seats ( you want these especially with a convertible. They make top-down driving enjoyable even in the Winter ). We also had 19" alloys, sport suspension, LED lighting, the usual safety features and Audi's "Virtual Cockpit", which lets you, the driver, customize your connectivity and includes Google Earth…allowing you to literally see the road ahead. Pretty cool.
There's a good handful of convertibles available these days…some even starting in the $30's. But many of them are small, loud, bouncy two seaters. In contrast, Audi's A5 Cabriolet allows you to enjoy top-down driving and still have room for four and enjoy a high-tech, comfortable, luxurious driving experience.
