2024 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE Review
The Best Four-Door You'll Never Apologize for Owning
There's a special place in my heart—and driveway—for vehicles that make no excuses. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is one of them. It's a $225,570 plug-in hybrid, V8-powered super sedan with a flair for theater, a soul for speed, and a cabin fit for royalty. And despite only having four seats, it still checks the "family car" box for me.
Call it over-the-top, call it impractical—but don't call it boring.

Real-Life Luxury with Supercar Stats
This isn't just another AMG with louder pipes and a stiffer suspension.
It's Mercedes-AMG's most powerful production vehicle to date, blending a handcrafted 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with a 204-horsepower electric motor mounted at the rear axle. Together, they crank out a staggering 831 horsepower and 1,032 lb-ft of torque, launching this 5,200+ pound four-door from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. Top speed? 199 mph, electronically limited.
Even with those numbers, I justified my heavy foot by reminding myself that the electric motor was doing some of the work. And hey, it's a plug-in hybrid with a 6.1 kWh battery, so technically, I'm being responsible—at least until the 7-mile all-electric range taps out.

Fuel economy? According to the EPA:
• 18 MPG combined (gas only)
• 43 MPGe (gas + electric)
• 5.6 gallons per 100 miles
It charges in 1.5 hours on 240V. But let's be honest—you're not buying this to save the planet. You're buying it to rule your block.
Creature Comforts That Matter
Inside, AMG lets its luxurious side breathe. I didn't expect to love the MANUFAKTUR Classic Red and Black Exclusive Nappa Leather—but it worked. The contrast with the Signature Arabian Grey exterior felt just right, especially for a car that balances aggression and serenity so well.

Highlights from the interior:
• Active Multicontour Front Seats with Massage
• Heated Steering Wheel and Armrests
• Heated Rear Seats
• Burmester® Surround Sound System
• 12.3" Digital Instrument Cluster + 12.3" Touchscreen
• Wireless Charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
• Executive Rear Seat Package with a fixed business console, cooled/heated cupholders, 3-zone climate control, and even NFC wireless charging for the back seats.

Driving to work became my favorite part of the day—not just because of the massage seats and warm touchpoints on cold mornings but because of how this car sounds on a cold start. It'll wake up your neighbors and make you early for meetings.
Performance, Comfort, and Everything In Between
Equipped with:
• AMG RIDE CONTROL+ Suspension
• Rear-Axle Steering
• AMG Performance 4MATIC+ All-Wheel Drive
• Carbon Ceramic Brakes
• AMG Speedshift MCT 9-Speed Transmission
• Driver Assistance Package with Active Lane Change, Evasive Steering Assist, and PRE-SAFE® PLUS
...this AMG has brains to match its brawn. When you're not unleashing all 831 horses, it's smooth, compliant, and almost too easy to forget what it's capable of. But trust me, it delivers when you want it to act up.

Who's This For?
This car isn't for the masses. It's for the few who can afford it—and even fewer who understand it. If I could afford to spoil myself with a $200k hybrid performance sedan, I wouldn't hesitate. And if my kids catch a ride in the back? I'll teach them humility some other way.
Competitors? Maybe. But I Haven't Driven Them Yet.
I know the market's hot with rivals:
• Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid
• BMW M8 Gran Coupe
• Lucid Air Sapphire
• Tesla Model S Plaid
But I haven't tested those yet. So, for now? This is the top of the four-door coupe supercar mountain for me.

Optional Packages on This Test Car:
• Executive Rear Seat Package
• Driver Assistance Package
• AMG Night Package
• Acoustic Comfort Package
• Warmth and Comfort Package
• MANUFAKTUR Interior Package
• MBUX Interior Assistant
• 21" AMG Forged Wheels
• Fixed Panorama Roof
• Head-Up Display
• Active Multicontour Massage Seats

Final Word
If you're lucky enough to be considering a car like this, don't talk yourself out of it. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's bold. But it's also one of the most emotionally satisfying machines you'll ever drive. For me, it's not just the most powerful AMG ever built—it's the most complete AMG I've ever experienced.
