Jalen Johnson has officially arrived on the league’s biggest stage. The Atlanta Hawks forward has been selected as a reserve for the NBA All-Star Game, earning the first All-Star nod of his career. The announcement was made on NBC/Peacock ahead of the premiere of Sunday Night Basketball.
At just 24 years old, Johnson becomes the fourth-youngest player in franchise history to earn All-Star honors since the team’s move to Atlanta. He is also the NBA’s double-double leader, putting together a breakout season that has firmly placed him among the league’s elite.
Johnson is averaging career highs across the board, posting 23.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game, along with 1.3 steals in 35.6 minutes per contest. He is one of only two players in the NBA averaging at least 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, and the only player in the Eastern Conference to reach those marks.
He is also one of just two qualified players, alongside Luka Dončić, to rank in the top 25 in all three categories. The 6-foot-9 forward leads the NBA with 32 double-doubles this season and has recorded eight triple-doubles, the most in a single season in Hawks franchise history. His triple-double total is also the most by an Eastern Conference player this year and the second-most in the league overall.
The 75th NBA All-Star Game tips off on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The game will debut a new U.S. vs. World format, with Johnson representing Atlanta on one of basketball’s biggest nights. From rising star to All-Star, Jalen Johnson’s season has been nothing short of historic, and Atlanta is watching one of its brightest talents shine on the national stage.
