Due to anticipated inclement weather that will impact road conditions, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will close the I-85, I-75 South Metro and the I-75 Northwest Corridor (NWC) Express Lanes beginning midday on Saturday, January 24th, 2026.
GOT says that the State's top priority is the safety of roadway travelers, and these closures are occurring in an abundance of caution based on weather forecasts from the National Weather Service.
The Georgia Express Lanes will close at the following times on Saturday, January 24th:
I-75 NWC Express Lanes – closed in both directions as of 11:00 AM.I-75 South Metro Express Lanes – closed in both directions as of 12:00 noon.
I-85 Express Lanes – closed in both directions as of 12:00 noon.GDOT will reopen all express lanes once conditions are confirmed to be clear and safe for travel.
Peach Pass customers should click on Alerts when visiting https://511ga.org for real-time status updates on the Georgia Express Lanes including openings and closures.
In addition, the Peach Pass Retail Centers at the Department of Driver Services (DDS) locations will be closed Saturday, January 24th and on Monday, January 26th.
The Peach Pass Retail Center located at 245 Peachtree Center will be closed Monday, January 26th. All Peach Pass Retail Center locations are scheduled to open for normal business operations on Tuesday, January 27th.

The I-85 Express Lanes are on I-85 in Gwinnett County, from Chamblee Tucker Road (just south of I-285) to Old Peachtree Road. It also includes the I-85 Extension Express Lanes, which begins north of the existing I-85 Express Lanes at Old Peachtree Road and extends to Hamilton Mill Road.
The I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes are on I-75 in Cobb and Cherokee Counties, from Akers Mill Road to Hickory Grove Road and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road.
The I-75 South Metro Express Lanes are on I-75 in Henry and Clayton Counties, from State Route 155 to State Route 138.
