The 2026 ESSENCE Festival Of Culture® Presented By Coca-Cola® opened its doors in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, grounded in its cultural affirmation: “We Love Us,” officially launching a star-studded lineup of elevated daytime experiences across the We Love Us Marketplace, GBEF® HQ, Book Festival @ ESSENCE Authors, BeautyCon®, Suede Lounge, and the ESSENCE Main Stage.

Notable Talent Moments:

  • The ESSENCE Main Stage opened the festival the way New Orleans opens everything that matters, with a Mardi Gras Indians cultural procession led by a Big Chief, suit council, and percussion, featuring Flag Boy Giz and Queen Taj, in a celebration of intricate beadwork, chanting, and call and response rooted in the culture of the city.
  • Two living legacies shared one stage as Dr. Bernice A. King and Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz, daughters of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, sat down for a historic conversation on leadership, resilience, and carrying their parents' legacies forward, moderated by Actively Black founder Lanny Smith.
