The 2026 ESSENCE Festival Of Culture® Presented By Coca-Cola® brought the weekend full circle on its final day. What opened in praise and procession closed the same way it began, in community, with the ESSENCE Film Festival® honoring its standout storytellers, generations of mothers and daughters trading wisdom on stage, and one last parade through Shine City, before the Caesars Superdome hosted one last night of music in a celebration of culture.


Notable Moments:


  • The final day opened in praise and purpose with Get Lifted Gospel, a 75-minute worship experience on the ESSENCE Main Stage featuring Pastor Mike Jr., Koryn Hawthorne, Dante Pride, Adia, JustCordell, Crystal Aikin, and Ricky Dillard & the Ricky Dillard Choir.
  • Toya Johnson and Reginae Carter looked back on more than a decade of reality television in Like Mother, Like Daughter Reality Rewind, reflecting on what they regret, what they're grateful for, and how it built a business, book, and acting career that has outlasted the cameras.
  • Reginae Carter also joined ESSENCE Girls United Content Editor Danielle Wright for Bold Lives Here: Celebrating NOLA Flavor with Popeyes, a conversation on bold stories and cultural pride rooted in New Orleans.

  • Throughout the weekend, presenting partner Coca-Cola® brought its largest-ever ESSENCE Festival activation to life through Shine City, where music, entrepreneurship, wellness, HBCU pride, and community came together across immersive experiences and live performances. The final day culminated with Eva Marcille leading The World Is My Yard Presents Shine Parade alongside the legendary Grambling State University World-Famed Tiger Marching Band, celebrating the next generation of HBCU excellence before announcing two $5,000 Coca-Cola grants benefiting Grambling State University and HBCU Pantry.

Superdome Concert Stage Moments: Hosts LeToya Luckett and Kenny Burns closed out the ESSENCE Evening Concert Series™ on hallowed ground, with DJ Trauma sending the crowd home.
Performances and Notable Moments
  • Comedian Kountry Wayne made an appearance, bringing his signature humor and larger-than-life personality to the ESSENCE stage before the night's musical celebration got underway.
  • George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic landed the Mothership in New Orleans to open the Festival's final night, bringing the Superdome to life with a celebration of funk, Afrofuturism, and Black musical innovation. Joined by an all-star lineup including Big Boi, Nona Hendryx, Durand Bernarr, Scarface, Big Freedia, Kim Burrell, Trombone Shorty, Savion Glover, and more, the legendary collective delivered one of the weekend's most unforgettable, multi-generational moments.
  • Doug E. Fresh & Friends transformed the stage into a celebration of Black music and culture, bringing together legendary artists across hip-hop, R&B, and gospel, including MC Lyte, Tevin Campbell, Too $hort, Marvin Sapp, and Scarface, for a performance that honored the enduring influence of generations of musical pioneers.
  • Public Enemy brought their unmistakable energy and revolutionary spirit to the ESSENCE stage, delivering a powerful performance that underscored the group's lasting influence on music, culture, and social consciousness.
  • One of the evening's most emotional tributes came as Missy Elliott curated One in a Million Forever Tribute, a breathtaking celebration of the life and legacy of Aaliyah. Featuring performances from Chlöe, Mya, Normani, Ryan Destiny, and Sevyn Streeter, the all-star tribute honored one of music's most beloved icons while introducing her influence to a new generation.
  • Closing out the 2026 ESSENCE Festival Of Culture®, T.I. reimagined his iconic catalog alongside a live orchestra, fusing Southern hip-hop with symphonic arrangements for a powerful, one-of-a-kind finale that brought Festival weekend to an unforgettable close.
