Every year during Black Music Month, NPR Tiny Desk highlights black artists, and this year, they're paying homage to BET.
Our very own Big Tigger, from then BigTigger Morning Show, who is BET Alumni thanks to his stints on 106 & Park and Rap City broke the news to himself in a video clip where he announces the lineup.
Speaking of, the line up is full artists that showcase the creativity and limitless nature of Black music from Gospel to R&B, rap, neo-soul, and Afrobeats. GENA will open alongside Liv.e and Karriem Riggins, then Shaboozey nthen Joe, Ayra Starr, The Paradox, and Eve.
Fred Hammond, Bow Wow, and Floetry will close out the Tiny Desk Black Music Month Series showcasing the music that BET built its reputation on in the first place.
BET introduced generations of Black kids to artists who's music, culture, and style shaped a generation and created moments and memories that still stick with us today. BET getting this Tiny Desk moment in 2026 shows that the network and cultural institution's influence has stood the test of time and for an entity like NPR to recognize that show that our stories and our culture, does indeed matter
