The People's Station, V103 would like to take the time to recognize and remember the life of the venerated Michael Gidewon.
Michael was born to Gezzi Yohannes & Gidewon Abraham in Asmara, Eritrea on October 20, 1973. After fleeing from the war in Eritrea, the family moved to Italy before settling in Dallas, Texas.
He attended and graduated Pre-Med with a degree in Zoology and Business from the University of Texas in 1996.
But it was his degree in Business that brought him an array of success. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work with his brother Alex on the family business and in a short matter of time the business flourished well beyond their imaginations. They became the owners of a streamline of night clubs and lounges including Kaya, Vision, Compound, Velvet Room, Gold Room, Reign+Vanquish and Republic.
Through his remarkable success spanning over two decades, Michael was a friend, husband, father, brother, mentor and role model to many.
Gidewon fell victim to gun violence on February 4 when he was shot outside of Republic Lounge.
It is with great sorrow that we mourn his untimely passing but we will always remember his impact and legacy that will live on in the streets of Atlanta.
