V-103's Own Wanda Smith Passes Away At 58

It is with deep sadness that all of us at V-103 take the time out to pay homage to one of our very own, Wanda Smith. Smith passed away on Saturday, October 12th, just one day after her birthday.

Smith began working at V-103 back in the late 90's as an intern for Mike and Carol in the Morning. She then got her big shot at co-hosting on the "Frank and Wanda in the Morning" back in 1998, where she remained until 2012. In 2014 she returned to V-103 to co-host alongside Ryan Cameron where she remained until 2018. After that, she joined Frank Ski again in mornings for another stint on the air.

V-103 Senior Vice President and Market Manager said this in a statement:

"Our hearts are weighing heavier today as we grieve the loss of our beloved Wanda Smith, someone who always made us smile and who was a big part of V103 for years. We extend our deepest prayers and condolences to her family. In her role at V103, Wanda Smith bought so much joy and care servicing the Atlanta community. Wanda's impact touched lives beyond making us laugh. Many times she championed efforts behind the scenes to Make a Difference in the lives of those who were without.

Rest in peace Wanda, as you take your place amongst the stars. We will miss You."

Aside from her radio work, Smith was also a notable comedian. She was a "Def Comedy Jam" and BET's "Comicview," writer, and here in the ATL, she was known for her weekly sets that she used to do at the Atlanta Comedy Theater in Norcross.

Smith made appearances in several films, including Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes to Jail" and "Madea's Witness Protection, but in addition to all this, Smith gave back. Wanda's heart was huge. She gave tirelessly to the community giving free ice cream out at times, mentoring children and taking on them on trips, helping mothers and women, and more.

Wanda's legacy of kindness, happiness, and of love will live on forever through the lives she touched, the love she gave, the smiles and laughter she brought to people and more. Wanda we miss you and we are so blessed to have had to the honor of sharing space with you.
