As the Atlanta Braves get set for a Father's Day weekend series with the Colorado Rockies, there are still those who have some reservation about how well they'll play the remainder of the season as they currently sit nine games under .500 and 15 games back of the N.L. East leading New York Mets.
And while one would assume the Braves would be able to take advantage of a struggling Rockies team which has an 13-55 record and have lost 13 of their last 17 games, optimism has not been high for 92-9 The Game's Carl Dukes and Mike Bell, who shared thoughts on why they believe Atlanta needs to not just win the weekend series, they need to sweep Colorado.
"I just don't think that some, not all, Braves' fans grasp the seriousness of the situation," Bell said as he explained why he believes the current state of the Braves has the team in danger of failing to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
"I just think this is a different dynamic than what we were used to in years past when the Braves were able to surmount leads," Bell said referencing the 2021 season in which the Braves did not get above .500 until after the All-Star break and took over the division in August in route to winning the N.L. East and World Series.
