Freddie Freeman would look awful in pinstripes.
That said, according to Audacy MLB insider Jon Heyman, the New York Yankees are at least doing their due diligence on the Braves slugger and have met with his, and all, of the representatives for the top left-handed-hitting first baseman available.
Freeman, 32, is a free agent this offseason and would certainly seem to be a perfect fit for the Yankees as they look to add more left-handed power and upgrade at first base.
But, as Heyman noted, the Braves are still the team most likely to retain Freeman after the slugger helped lead the franchise to its first World Series title in 26 years.
While Yankees fan can dream big with Freeman, the most realistic options for New York would be to bring back Anthony Rizzo, who played well for the Bronx Bombers after being acquired at the trade deadline, or trade for A’s first baseman Matt Olson, according to Heyman.
Olson, 27, is a particularly intriguing option because he is under team control for the next two years before he hits free agency.

While Luke Voit has played well for the Yankees when he’s in the lineup, he has struggled to stay healthy and become a reliable starter. He also hits right-handed in a lineup stacked with righties in the lefty-friendly Yankee Stadium.
After losing to the Boston Red Sox in the AL Wild Card game, it is certain the Yankees will have a busy offseason as they look to address a number of different areas.
