The NFL is officially in full offseason mode, and the debate on what the Falcons should do at the quarterback is in full force. Earlier today NFL Draft Analyst for The Athletic Dane Brugler explained why he thinks the Falcons shouldn’t draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft unless it’s Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels.
“If you’re not going to draft one of these top three guys I'm not sure that I'm drafting a quarterback early.” Brugler said. Dane also went on to say “If I’m not going to make the big splash in free agency or make a Justin Fields type of trade I’m going to be looking at all my scenarios to make sure I get one of those top three quarterbacks this year because quarterback is not one of those positions that I want to compromise on. I want to go get my guy, and for me it’s one of those top three guys this year.”
Ultimately the Falcons have to do whatever it takes to get whoever their guy is. Whether that means spending money in free agency to bring in a veteran quarterback, trading draft capital and spending money to acquire Justin Fields via trade and then extend his contract, or give up draft capital to move up in this year’s draft to draft whatever rookie quarterback they want to bring in.
As long as the Falcons show they did everything in their power to get their guy, most Falcons fans will be satisfied.
