Yesterday the Atlanta Falcons announced that they completed a virtual interview with Jeff Ulbrich for the organization’s defensive coordinator position. Ulbrich spent six seasons in Atlanta where he served as the linebackers coach from 2015 to 2019.

When Dan Qunn was fired in 2020 and Raheem Morris became the interim Head Coach Morris made Ulbrich the assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator, and now that Ulbrich is available with the very same spot open for the Falcons, with the very same Head Coach at the helm it’s easy to understand why the Falcons are interviewing Ulbrich and have interest in him. Earlier today, The Morning Shift explained why a Raheem Morris and Jeff Ulbrich reunion in Atlanta would be good for the Falcons.

“I think he’s a good coach, he’s a good DC, he’s a guy that can develop players.” Beau Morgan said

As the linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich was key in the development of linebackers and Falcons’ draft picks De’Vondre Campbell and Deion Jones, and those were two key components of that young Falcons’ defense that was filled with rookies, but still helped the team get to the Super Bowl in 2016.

Mike Johnson also believes there’s “no doubt” that Ulbrich is a “quality coach”.

With such strong ties to the team and Raheem Morris you can’t help but believe that Ulbrich has a really good chance of being the Falcons’ next DC, and if that is the case the Falcons’ defense would be in really good hands.
