There are a number of kids and young adults out there who, as sports fans growing up, think that the ultimate dream job is to be the general manager of a major franchise. The concept of making blockbuster trades, finding potential diamonds in the rough in drafts, negotiating contracts and more are all incredibly intriguing, especially with the introduction of such features in video games that provide hours and hours of entertainment per day. There's a reason that the term "armchair GM" exists and that so many of us like to take over that role. A lot of that stuff is, in theory, pure and unadulterated fun.

But how many of us actually know what it's like to hold that position, especially in a league with as much pressure as the NFL? There are few jobs in the world of sports business with higher stakes than that of the general manager of an NFL team, with every single decision potentially impacting the team, the fan base and the entire city in a big, big way. What really goes on during the day-to-day, behind our surface view, with what I imagine are unmatched and consistent levels of stress?

We might be able to find out, if former NFL GM Thomas Dimitroff delivers on a promising project. Fired by the Falcons in the middle of the 2020 season, it looks as though he's keeping busy in other ways. According to Michael Holley, who filled in for Peter King this week to give us "Football Morning in America," there's something in the works that should have football fans and armchair GMs excited:

I think Thomas Dimitroff is on to something big. The former Falcons general manager has now interviewed 15 GMs for an unfiltered TV show that he’s producing. The idea is to show aspects of the job—and the personalities behind it—that often go unseen/unexplained. Among the 15: Howie Roseman, Jason Licht, Mickey Loomis, and Brett Veach.

Another GM who we can safely assume will be featured in the show is Bills exec Brandon Beane, who was pictured at Bar-Bill Tavern in East Aurora, NY.

And if we look even further, based on the apparent location of one of the episodes, we can guess that Baltimore Ravens EM Eric DeCosta may be another name to watch for when the show comes out.

Who knows who the other GMs will be to round out the 15 or more features on Dimitroff's entertaining undertaking. What we do know is that it will be a fun and interesting feature to watch, especially when one of the most well-known GMs in sports history is already the focus of another big show.
