The Atlanta Hawks suffered one of the most embarrassing playoff losses not only in Hawks franchise history, not just in Atlanta sports history, but in all of sports history last night after losing to the New York Knicks 140-89 at home in Game six of their first round playoff series.

Last night was the exclamation point on a six game series that featured three games where the Hawks were competitive and three games where the Hawks were absolutely blown out, and earlier today The Morning Shift talked about how the Hawks’ major flaws were exposed by the Knicks in the final three games of the series.

“When they needed to they notched up the physicality, and you couldn’t match it” Beau Morgan said

As far as what the Hawks were missing in this series against the Knicks and what they need moving forward to become legit contenders Beau mentioned a true big and physical center like a Jock Landale, who was injured for the Hawks and missed the entire series due to a right high ankle sprain, a bigger true point guard, and another playmaker who can score off the bench.

Hawks General Manager Onsi Saleh has plenty of work to do this offseason as he will try to build around a good young Hawks core, bring in pieces that will hopefully take Atlanta to the next level, make them legitimate championship contenders, and ensure that what happened to the Hawks last night will never happen to them again.
