Braves 2026 season off to complete opposite start of 2025

The Atlanta Braves are 23 games into the 2026 MLB season and have gotten off to a start completely opposite of their 2025 start in which they were 9-14 through their first 23 games, however, fast forever to now and Atlanta is 16-7 and sit atop the National League East with a five-game lead over the second place Washington Nationals.

“Offense is humming and your starting pitching has been phenomenal,” Audacy MLB Insider and former MLB outfielder, Tony Gwynn Jr., said as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and shared his thoughts on what he believes has been key to the Braves’ start to the season, crediting the offensive output at the plate as well as pitching, including the bullpen.

“I think ultimately, I expected the Braves to bounce back,” Gwynn Jr. continued as he explained why he believes the 2025 season for Atlanta was “an anomaly” as a result of injuries to their starting and bad performances at the plate from key players, however believed the Braves would be able to “bounce back,” in the manner in which they have.

“They weren’t that team at really any other point in the last five years. These guys are too talented,” Gwynn said, praising the Braves starting pitching for “being a little bit of a surprise” despite Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach, Hurston Waldrep and AJ Smith-Shawver being place on the IL before the start of the season.
