On Point with Juandolyn Stokes welcomed Dr. Aditi Mallick, Chief Medical Officer, Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) who shared with our audience the importance of mental health services for children, teens, and adults.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month CMS wants to remind families that help and support is available for children in need of mental health and behavioral health services.

Free and low-cost healthcare is available for children, teens, and adults; programs are available for mental health care for low income families.

"Each state's eligibility varies; it often depends on the number of people in a family. Help is usually available for families making $60,000 a year for a family of four," said Dr. Mallick.

Peachcare is available for children in Georgia.

The emergency health services available usually include emergency health services, tele-health, in-person services, and in-school services.

"There is a staggering increase in the rise of mental health problems in the last decade across all racial and ethnic groups," said Dr. Mallick.

More than 40% of high school students reported feeling sad or hopeless…and 1 in 5 U.S. children between the ages of 12 and 17 had experienced depression.
