GLENVIEW (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Relatives and friends of two Glenview brothers, who were killed last weekend, held a fundraiser on Sunday to help pay for their funeral expenses.
People gathered under a yellow, striped tent in the grassy courtyard of the apartment complex where 16-year-old Jose Guzman and his 19-year-old brother Carlos — who also went by Charlie — were fatally shot.
Their sister, Anette, was wearing a white T-shirt like those they were selling along with food and drinks.

"It has a picture of them, too, and then their names, when they were born, and the day that they died," she said.
Anette said the shooting devastated their family and left them confused as to why someone would kill Charlie and Jose. She described her brothers as funny, caring and protective.
She and the others who were selling tostadas, empanadas, corn and cake swatted away bees as people lined up. Anette said she's mad that the family hasn't gotten many details from the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
She believes detectives are looking at security camera footage from a gas station across Milwaukee Avenue from the apartment complex, located in unincorporated Glenview.
The family plans to hold Jose and Charlie's wake Thursday evening in Waukegan, followed by a mass and burial Friday morning.
