The Chicago Archdiocese has cleared Rev. Michael Pfleger to return to his church after a sexual abuse allegation.

The Roman Catholic priest stepped away from ministry in July after he was accused of sexually abusing a girl who was a student at St. Sabina 30 years ago - a claim he staunchly denied.

In a letter to the St. Sabina community, Cardinal Blase Cupich wrote the Independent Review Board and Office of Child Protection found “there is no reason to believe Father Pfleger is guilty of the allegation.”

The popular priest responded on social media “Thank you God and thanks to all who stood by me.”

Father Pfleger claimed the latest allegation against him was an effort to get money from the church and to silence him.

His supporters want changes to the archdiocese’s abuse investigation process

Pfleger plans to hold a press conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Auburn Gresham church.
