CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Chicago Police Board holds a status hearing today in the case of a police officer who shot and killed a 13-year-old boy two years ago.
The status hearing is for Chicago Police Officer Eric Stillman. Interim Police Superintendent Eric Carter wants Stillman fired for allegedly violating department policies in the shooting death of 13-year-old Adam Toledo in the Little Village neighborhood.
Stillman fired one shot at the boy, a fraction of a second after the boy dropped the gun he was holding.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability had first suggested Stillman be fired, but former Superintendent David Brown wanted to just suspend the office for five days.
The Cook County State’s Attorney Office decided not to file charges against the officer.
