(670 The Score) The Cubs on Sunday claimed first baseman Frank Schwindel from the Athletics, Russell Dorsey of the Sun-Times reported.
Schwindel, 29, will be optioned to Triple-A Iowa. He went 3-for-20 in eight games for Oakland earlier this season and has hit .114 in 14 career games across two MLB seasons. The Athletics recently designated him for assignment.
Schwindel is hitting .317 with 16 homers, 41 RBIs and a .992 OPS in 45 games at the Triple-A level this season.
The Cubs’ 40-man roster is now full after the addition of Schwindel.
