Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Buffalo Police have announced the names of the victims of the three homicides over the weekend.
The latest victim of a homicide in the city is 27-year-old Joshua Jalovick, who was shot in the first block of Freund Street near East Delavan on Tuesday.
Police also said that 16-year-old Anthony Douglas III was killed over the weekend on Oakmont Avenue. Douglas was not the intended target of the killing. 24-year-old Jermaine Williams was shot and killed on Sunday near Greenwood place.
Police say efforts are being made to combat any possible waves of violence and crime in the city during the summer months, and that they are seeing an increase in community cooperation, leading to quicker arrests.
Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo credits that to a neighborhood policing initative started by Commissioner Byron Lockwood.
"He re-energized our CPO unit, and getting out, working day to day with community groups, especially kids, getting them to understand police are their partners, there to help," Rinaldo said.
