Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Bills fans, by now, are used to paying high prices for tickets on the secondary market, and this year will be no different.
The only question is how high can they go for the final games at the current Highmark Stadium?
As of Friday, the cheapest tickets for Sunday night's home opener against the Baltimore Ravens were around $200 on both Stubhub and Ticketmaster. That is generally the "get in" price for most home games with a few exceptions.
Tickets for the highly anticipated November matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs start at around $350, and it will currently cost you, at least, $300 to see the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles come to Orchard Park on Dec. 28.
Perhaps surprisingly, the only other game where it will cost, at least, $300 to attend is the Sept. 28 game against the New Orleans Saints.
Why?
Those in the ticket industry have noticed that as more prime-time games are added to the schedule, demand for Sunday afternoon games that are easier to attend for most working fans grows.
"There's not a lot of 1 p.m. games on the home schedule," said VIPTIX owner Nick Giammusso in an interview with WBEN. "That's what's really driving the price of the New Orleans game is that 1 p.m. start, and it's in September."
The cheapest game to get in to right now is the final regular season game at the stadium against the New York Jets in early January, where tickets can be had for under $150. That might be seen as a deal for, what's being dubbed by the team as, the "Farewell Celebration" for the stadium.
"We expect tickets to go up for that game," Giamusso said, while acknowledging the weather plays a big role in ticket prices for late season games. "That Jets game is a crapshoot. We don't know what the weather will be. We could have blizzard-like conditions, we just don't know."
