Williamsville, N.Y. (WBEN) - Tuesday was another day of well-above average weather conditions in Western New York, which had many people out-and-about enjoying the bright and sunny conditions and temperatures in the 70s.
One activity many families in the region like to enjoy with the warmer weather is heading out for a nice ice cream cone or milkshake, which is exactly what Holly Anderson has noticed over the past couple of days at all six of her Anderson's Frozen Custards locations.
"Business has perked up a lot, thank you to everyone. It is a blessing. That's the bottom line, it's a blessing," said Anderson on Tuesday in an interview with WBEN. "For us to go through the really slower months of the winter time, it's tough, the book end of it. So to have this early spring is phenomenal, and good for everybody's spirits. It's just wonderful."
With the record-breaking temperatures settling in this early in March, Anderson certainly knows what a pleasant surprise it has been to see business with such an uptick since Sunday and into Monday and Tuesday.
"We had a great Monday of sales, great volume [of people]. It was absolutely wonderful to have a Monday be so busy. It's really, really nice, and everybody's ready for it," the owner and CEO of Anderson's said. "Our staff is ready, we're doing some significant hiring now. I was thinking we would have time to train before we needed them, but it's really a good atmosphere this spring."
When is it typically where business starts to pick up at all of Anderson's six locations in Western New York?
"It is traditional that it's not until May that things really pick up. April can be iffy, we can have snow in April. It all depends on the weather, but it's really wonderful to have a warm spring," Anderson said.
She adds she's hopeful the winter weather is finally behind us so not only business can continue to pick up, but also to be able to stow away the warmer clothes for a while.
