Pittsford, NY (WBEN) - James Cook is expected to be on board as the Buffalo Bills start training camp Wednesday at St. John Fisher. The Bills will also have a high profile visit from HBO's Hard Knocks.
After mini-camp, Bills GM Brandon Beane said he understands Cook's desire for a new contract. "Jimbo's a pro, he's a competitive dude. Of course he wants to take care of himself, everyone does, and we love to see that. But we have to fit things into the cap," said Beane. "It's great to see him and he looks good and you can tell he's been working.
Another name in the spotlight is tight end Dalton Kincaid. Ty Dunne of Go Long says this could be a big year for Kincaid. "A lot of it's physical. Both knees were in bad, bad shape. He couldn't even really bend them," says Dunne. "But I think it's more psychological, because you go through history, you look at all these tight end grades, but so many of these guys, they faced this moment early in their career, all of these tight ends had this like Man in the Mirror moment where everything kind of clicks. And I think you have to face those demons kind of head on. And this is somebody who is far more mentally tough, physically tough, than I certainly thought."
The Bills will have a high profile visitor in HBO's "Hard Knocks." Coach Sean McDermott considers it a high compliment. "You look at it one of two ways," says McDermott. "The opportunity is there for us to, number one, our fans, that they can get an inside look, a little bit of what happens. I think the opportunity for us to really be who we are. A lot of people see us. They show up at our stadium every week, and they see us live, and they see who we are and how much these guys love each other." He says the team's personality comes out, and this will offer many a chance to see the team beneath the surface as well.
Training camp runs through August 7th.
